Relaxed newborn and family photo shoots in Auckland

My newborn and family shoots are relaxed and informal. There’s no studio, no awkward posing or sitting still for very long.

We meet in your home, a local park or beach, or any other favourite outdoor spot around Auckland and capture you and your kids doing what you love doing in professional, relaxed and creative photographs. Now taking bookings for family sessions between end of October 2021 and February 2022.

What about Covid?

I am fully vaccinated, and safety definitely comes first! During current restrictions, only outdoor shoots with one household can take place. You might feel more comfortable waiting until restrictions ease further, which is also absolutely fine. You are welcome to pencil in a date if you’re keen to book something in, and then keep postponing it until you feel happy to go ahead.

I will wear a face face covering during our shoot and will keep my distance from you throughout. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I am very happy to be as flexible and accommodating as needed during these challenging time. The most important thing is that we are all comfortable and safe, whilst still having a fun session.

Which locations do you recommend?

Auckland has so many beautiful outdoor spots, so we’ll be spoilt for choice. Some families prefer having their photos taken in a place they go to regularly to capture memories in a place they love, so if you have a favourite park or beach, we can do your photos there. Some of my favourite locations for family shoots in Auckland are Cornwall Park, North Piha, Karaka Bay (tiny but beautiful beach in Glendowie), Long Bay on the North Shore, Wenderholme Regional Park (one of my absolute favs!) and Maraetai in South Auckland. But there are plenty more, and we can go through a few options. Of course we can also do your photo shoot at home in your back garden, if you want to capture some memories in your own surroundings.

HOW DOES IT all WORK?

To book a date for your shoot, I ask for a $150 deposit, with the rest of the payment being due on or before the date of your shoot. On the day, we’ll allow plenty of time for everyone to relax and settle in. I will give you a little direction - it’s also a good idea to bring along a game or activity that you love doing together, so everyone forgets about the camera for while. We’ll work together to create some beautiful, fun, natural memories. After the shoot, I’ll be in touch with your photos within 2 weeks. You’ll receive a beautiful online gallery from where you can download your photos.

are there any extra costs?

There are no hidden costs. Your shoot includes travel within Greater Auckland and an unlimited number of high resolution digital photos edited in my style. You can download these from your private online gallery, and the photos are all yours without any limitations for personal use. This means you can share them online with friends and family and print them as you wish. You just can’t sell them to a magazine or use them for any commercial / business purpose.

WHAT IF IT RAINS ON THE DAY OF OUR SHOOT?

If the weather is looking poor and we are doing an outdoor shoot, we can postpone to another date. Your deposit is transferable to the new date. I’ll get in touch with you a couple of days days before your shoot to check in on the weather forecast and we can decide on the best option.

WHAT IF I have to TO RESCHEDULE due to illness or another reason?

No problem. Your session fee is transferable to another date, and we can reschedule. Please just get in touch as soon as possible if you do need to reschedule your shoot, to help me manage my bookings.

WHAT SHOULD we WEAR?

Generally, the most important thing is to be comfortable, so I recommend wearing an outfit that you love, reflects your tastes and style, and that you can move around in easily. If your kids are quite young, your shoot will most likely be pretty active and energetic - we might sit on the grass or getting our feet wet on the beach, so I recommend going for something fairly casual that suits the setting. Similarly, if we are at your home, I would choose your favourite at-home outfit, rather than anything too formal, so your’e looking natural in your environment.
