Nicola and Zac were the winners of my annual engagement shoot give-away with Auckland Weddings last year. This time, we also collaborated with the Beauty Hub, who did a beautiful job with Nicola’s hair and make up. We met at Lake Wainamu near Bethells Beach on a perfect summer’s eve. It was a weekday, so there was hardly anyone around, and we spent a relaxed and fun hour and half walking around the dunes, getting our feet wet and enjoying the soft evening light.

Lake Wainamu is one of those gorgeous hidden gems in West Auckland, and I love coming here for shoots. It’s hardly ever busy and there’s so much variety in backdrops, and the colours are stunning too. If you are up for a bit more of an adventure, you can carry on walking all the way around the lake and come past a beautiful waterfall. It’s definitely the kind of location for casual dress, as we have to walk through ankle deep water quite a bit and climb up dunes, so barefoot is best! I loved Nicola and Zac’s outfit choices - perfect for an informal summer shoot.
