AUCKLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

After nearly two months of drought, Auckland decided to open its heavens for one day only on Nicola and Emrys’s wedding day. As I drove to their flat for getting ready photos, with my windscreen wipers on full speed and barely being able to see further than two meters ahead, I felt for them. An outdoor ceremony at the top of Bastion Point in a couple of hours’ time seemed impossible.

But in true Auckland weather fashion, the rain stopped abruptly while Emrys was making frantic calls to arrange a plan B for their ceremony, and we all felt sure that the sun was going to pop out any minute, despite the gloomy forecast. And so it did. By 4pm the rain had stopped, the ground was dry and only a few stray clouds were left to provide a bit of hazy shade and lovely light for their ceremony.

I think all the excitement and relief about the weather made everyone feel even more excited and giddy, and it turned out to be such a gorgeous happy day.
