GOLDIE VINEYARD WEDDING
Briar and George’s wedding at Goldie Estate on Waiheke had it all. The sunshine, the views, the warmth, love and laughter, plus a few special extras thrown in - such as Russian bread sharing and wine glass smashing, and a marching band in super hero outfits. I love it when couples put their own personal spin on their day. At the end of their beautiful outdoor ceremony, the super hero marching band appeared from nowhere - a complete surprise for their friends and family - leading the wedding party in a procession down the hill. It was a sight to behold. (Scroll down to see for yourself).
Briar and George then had their first dance in front of the cellar doors in the afternoon, rather than the traditional evening routine, with all their guests joining in for a bit of a dance off, before tucking into some lovely food from the grazing table and a glass of Waiheke bubbly. I took Briar and George to the olive grove for some photos, and it was actually one of the rare few times that the picnic basket actually gets used at a wedding. Sitting in the tall grass among the olive trees, sharing food and wine, looked just crazy romantic. We then stomped around in the tall grass for a bit and had a good giggle trying not to fall over capturing all those beautiful early evening colours and textures, checked out the vines, which managed to somehow look cool despite being covered in netting, and finished our photo shoot with a little dance in front of a green shed.
Their evening reception was super happy and relaxed (I loved the stylish flower decorations made by one of Briar’s friend, and all the gorgeous different cakes made by various relatives). We popped out for a few more photos just before sunset, and then danced the night away under the stars. A perfect day!
