How to prepare for your Couple Session

What to expect.

Having your photos taken by me is pretty easy and relaxed, and hopefully you’ll enjoy it! :-) It’s best to forget everything you know about having your photo taken previously - you won’t be standing still in awkward positions, and you won’t be looking at the camera much. Mostly, we’ll walk around quite a bit, you hold hands, we have a good chat and a laugh, I do my thing, and the photos happen quite naturally. I will have plotted a nice route for us to walk beforehand so I’ll take you to all the beautiful spots, and we quite often discover some new unexpected gems together as well. I give you plenty of ideas so you won’t have to worry about what to do. If you’re feeling a bit awkward, don’t worry. Most people do to start with, and then forget about it pretty quickly. The best thing you can do is not to worry or overthink it, be yourself and have fun.

What to wear?

Your photos are for you to enjoy and should reflect your own style and preferences, so anything goes. I recommend you wear an outfit that you love, that makes you feel good and is suitable for your location. We’ll walk around a lot and your photos will look best if you are comfortable. It’s therefore best to avoid super high heals. Once we have agreed on a location, feel free to email me with your outfit choices if you are not sure, and I’m happy to help. Please do notify me if you are planning to wear a wedding dress, as this may impact on our ability to shoot in some places.

What to bring?

Very simple - bring your lovely selfs and ideally little else. :) I strongly recommend not bringing big hand bags or “stuff” to the shoot, as they will get in the way of the spontaneous shots as we walk around, which are often the most beautiful. You may have noticed on my website that I take a lot of walking and what I call “in-between” shots, and it’s not always easy to find a clean and safe space to put bags down, so the less luggage, the better.

Can I change outfits?

For the same reason as above, I don’t recommend big outfit changes. Saying that, if you want to put a jacket or jumper into a small handbag, and change those along the way that’s usually not a problem.
