I loved the simple elegance of Rebecca and Laurence’s wedding at Islington Town Hall. The day started at the Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel at Russel square, where Rebecca was getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids. I always enjoy shooting in the council chamber at Islington Town Hall with all that lovely natural light flooding in from all sides. Their wedding day coincided with the week of mourning for the Queen, so we weren’t allowed to throw any confetti outside the town hall steps. We felt pretty convinced that the late Queen would not have wanted Rebecca and Laurence to miss out on their confetti shot, so we just went for it around the corner and hopefully no one was offended!

Rebecca and Laurence wanted to keep couple photos to a minimum and focus on lots of candid coverage of their wedding reception instead. It was a beautiful early autumn day, and we enjoyed a little walk around Spitalsfield Market for photos before heading to St John’s restaurant for drinks and dinner. I loved the plain canvas of this restaurant and I think it provided such a perfect cool London backdrop for their reception. I stayed with them until the speeches and then left them to it when dinner arrived.
